AcroDance is the beautiful fusion of the artistic motion of dance and the athleticism of acrobatics, AcroDance is not the same as gymnastics. An AcroDancer must complete all of the skills on the hard stage without the advantage of a sprung floor, while seamlessly integrating musicality, emotional expression, extension, control and line. The sprung floor allows the gymnast to complete much more difficult tumbling when compared to what is recommended in AcroDance. Skills taught in AcroDance might look the same as gymnastics, but they are taught differently and compensate for the conditions. The class focus is on strength, flexibility, balance, limbering and rumbling This style of dance enhances a dancer’s ballet and jazz technique.

RAD Ballet

The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is one of the world’s most influential dance education and training organisations. The RAD aims to provide a syllabus that promotes feeling before form that is taught through a child-centered developmentally based approach. Training works to develop physical skills, stamina, creativity, expression and musicality using a range of sounds and musical styles. This strong foundation prepares dancers for a successful introduction into the world of Ballet and other dance styles. INT & SR RAD will attend a minimum of 2 competitions.

REC Ballet

Ballet classes focus on developing musicality, balance, correct muscle use, alignment and flexibility. Students learn the terminology of classical ballet through barre and centre work.

Creative Dance

Creative Dance is based on 15 movement concepts most of which are pairs and antonyms, such as high-low levels, strong-light weight, and curved-straight pathways. These concepts are effective because children learn easily through opposites. When we explore all these concepts, in multiple musical and artistic mediums, we move with strong and light force, sharp and smooth energy, fast and slow tempo, free and bound flow, single and multi-focus, in curved and straight pathways, on and off balance, and much more, resulting in skill development, creative expression and greater communication skills.

Hip Hop

This fast paced class will bring a different approach to regular studio Hip-Hop. This class will be high energy while exploring fast movements, ground moves, Old-Skool Hip-Hop (aka New Jack Swing) and especially grooves! This class will also briefly cover other urban dance styles such as Popping and House. This class is perfect for dancing inside and outside the studio! INT & SR Hip Hop may attend competitions.

Jazz is an upbeat, action packed class. Jazz dancing showcases a dancer’s individual style and originality. Jazz dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns. To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong background in ballet, as it encourages grace and balance. Jazz focuses on developing technique, style and flexibility.

Lyrical is a continuous, gentle, flowing form of jazz technique with emphasis on expressing the emotion or story in the music. It incorporates elements of ballet and modern.

Modern dance rejects many of the strict rules of classical ballet, focusing instead on the expression of inner feelings. Technique is designed to develop the mind, body and spirit to be expressive through strong, grounded and centrally motivated movements.

Musical Theatre

This class is for the performer who wants to be a triple threat! Students will learn song and dance primarily from Broadway musicals. Students will sing, dance and act routines choreographed to entertain and follow in the footsteps of the great Triple Threats.

Tap is an exciting form of dance in which dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps. Tap dancers use their feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns and timely beats.

Technique is the basis of all fundamentals of dance, from holding your body correctly while performing to executing skills properly in a routine. Strong technique is important in all areas of dance, regardless of the style. Technique will focus on turns and progressions, flexibility, strength training and basic skill building.

What is Variety? It’s anything that doesn’t perfectly fit in any other category. It can include any genre of dance, lip synch, acting and almost always elements of comedy. This is for the student that wants to utilize their other acquired dance skills to learn super fun and entertaining routines.

Showgroup is a performance group that offers dedicated dancers the opportunity to immerse themselves in the art of dance. This group will be preforming throughout the community and fundraising for a trip to preform in Disneyland in California and to take classes at world renowned LA dance studios.
